Description: Signing up for Realtimeboards

Impact: I never had heard of Realtimeboards until a student posted the website in a class discussion. I immediately began to ask questions. The student emailed me the website https://realtimeboard.com/education/. I went to the website and watched an introduction video. The video was awesome and I knew I had to join. The best part was that because I am an educator it is free- as long as the site checks out my credentials. The site said I should be notified in twenty-four hours if I am accepted. Even though I am waiting on the email I created an account and am so excited to use this resource!

Intent : This coming school year it appears that I will be working with three to four other teachers. One is A NOW teacher and brings his students into my 9th grade physical science class. The other is a technology teacher and the third is an intervention specialist. Since we are a NewTech school we are required to complete projects for each unit. When creating a project the amount of time and energy is enormous. It takes many hours to ensure that the project has all the necessary items- rubrics, activities, authenticity- (usually an outside speaker or event), formative and summative assessments, and the overall project. For the last two years I have worked with my co-teachers planning and implementing each project. In my opinion the more people creating a project the better-one person may have a plethora of contacts outside of the school- this makes the project more authentic. The technology teacher is working hard to ensure that technology is incorporated into the content, thus into the project. I cannot wait to start planning a project and share it with the other teachers. In the past we have used google docs which are great but Realtimeboards offers so many other resources. It is literally a whiteboard that you can add pictures, videos, sticky notes, drawings and then share it with others in real time. My co-teachers have very busy lives with their children and other responsibilities so finding a time for us all to meet is nearly impossible. Realtimeboards will allow us to plan dynamic projects while sharing the load and responsibility.
